About Susie

Training in Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art for over 30 years Susie has continued to enrich her love of art by sharing her methods and techniques with termly drawing classes that are held in her cosy private studio in Lewes. Find out more.

Since leaving her most recent career as a Sixth Form Art and Design teacher she now uses those hours within her studio, where she loves to develop her desire to capture the ‘essence’ of the human form using clay, some of which have been produced in bronze resin.

Susie enjoys the rich textures, patterns and tones within her ceramic sculptures, expressing a variety of ceramic glazes and oxides which portray vibrant and intricate rich colours. This is partly inspired from her time working at Glynebourne Opera House in the 1990s where she made props for the stage production.

Her work is not only admired locally in Lewes and East Sussex, but has also attracted national and international collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts. Exhibited in places such as the Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden, Atherton Green Art, Select Gallery in London, her sculptures are sought-after pieces that bring both ancient resonance and modern expression into contemporary spaces.

Alongside her exhibition career, Susie has contributed to the wider art world through teaching, commissions, and community engagement.
