The Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden, 2024

We have had the pleasure of working with Susie for a number of years. She has such skill at capturing form; sometimes mid movement and sometimes more posed. Her work is extremely popular; with larger, almost life-size pieces for outside, or smaller figures for interior settings. With a nod to the classical, the use of vibrant glazes and sleek stone or steel bases gives her work a contemporary twist. Susie has made several pieces as commissions for clients, including a series of fountain heads for a Provençal garden. It's always a delight to show and sell Susie's work - and we are very fond of her too!

I have enjoyed the 'drawing' journey over the past few weeks and hope to continue to develop what I have learnt in the coming months. Susie's classes are structured, well thought out and the subjects matters are always so varied, allowing us to explore and challenge ourselves. 100% recommend if you're looking for a fantastic teacher to guide you though knew methods, building confidence and skills. Thanks Susie!

I first encountered Susie’s work at the excellent Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden (near Dorking) last summer and then at her home studio in Lewes. Her figurative nude sculptures, mostly fashioned in clay, demonstrate her well-honed skills as an artist as well as her love of both classical and more modern nude forms of which they are a creative and appealing blend. Modestly priced and manageable is size, they are beautifully finished in an array of colours, their subtle variety reflecting that of the female body. Indeed, it is not easy to choose! They would look lovely in any home and I would confidently recommend both Susie - who is delightful - and her work.

Having been given a terms worth of vouchers as a Birthday gifts, it was such a lovely surprise to be part of a friendly and welcoming group, having not done art for about 10 years! Susie is patient, friendly and an amazing teacher with lots of knowledge to share. I highly recommend Susie's art classes, even if it's a voucher for a loved one - it's so worth it! I've learnt a lot so far and look forward to each week.

“Late last year our much loved dog died and as she had been so much part of our family life we commissioned a bronze sculpture to remember her by. Susie could only work from photographs and as the details of black dogs are not easy to see in photos it was a particularly difficult task. Nevertheless, Susie completely captured not only the appearance but also the spirit of our Maisie. Throughout the process we were consulted and were able to give our views. The result was absolutely wonderful and will always be treasured. Thank you SO much Susie!”

We commissioned Susie to make a bronze 2/3 life size sculpture of our Labradoodle called Jess. From commissioning to delivery took a few months. It included agreeing the size and favoured pose, providing photographs, visits to see the work (and give feedback) as it progressed (from the initial maquettes through to the final stage prior to casting) and finally deciding the final colouring of the bronze. The whole process was very inclusive.

On delivery we could not believe how beautiful and lifelike our new Jess looked; we were stunned. Being proud owners of two of Susie’s delightful works (we also bought a ceramic Hare)  we can unreservedly commend her to other potential commissioners.”

I absolutely love my weekly sessions with Susie. She puts in such time and attention to each week and this is shown through her well thought out and structured yet flowing classes. It is a lovely space to do art in too.

“I commissioned Susie to create a mini sculpture of our Norfolk Terrier, Nelson for a Christmas present for my husband. Nelson and I really enjoyed the whole process – from the initial measuring and photography to the consultations and the final result. It is a wonderful likeness and Susie has really captured his pose as he sits with one of his legs slightly bent and one sticking out. It was a great surprise on Christmas Day for my husband and we are really pleased with sculpture.”
