Service Description

Welcoming ages 8-11 years old onto this half term workshop. Children can have a creative morning with Susie Hartley, a qualified teacher and with a current DBS - designing and making clay tiles (air dry clay) which can be fired in the studio kiln or taken home to dry that very same day! MATERIALS TO EXPLORE Children will explore a slab of clay and transform it into a textured relief inspired by nature. Using leaves, sticks, shells and other natural shapes and forms, they will experiment with pressing, imprinting and layering techniques to create surface texture and pattern. This hands-on activity develops fine motor skills, sensory awareness and creative confidence, while encouraging children to observe and respond to the natural world through clay. SUBJECT MATTER We’ll be taking inspiration from the natural world around us! Children will look closely at natural shapes and forms such as leaves, flowers, bark, stones and shells. By noticing lines, bumps, patterns and textures, they’ll use these ideas to press and imprint into clay. The focus is on exploring how nature feels as well as how it looks, turning everyday natural objects into exciting textured pictures in clay. Price includes all drawing materials. Any questions, do get in touch. "My son is naturally shy and reserved, but within just 10 minutes of being in Susie’s workshop, she made him feel so welcome and comfortable. He came home absolutely thrilled, excited, and proud of what he had created. He hasn’t stopped talking about it and is already asking to book another workshop!” - Simon
