I’m so pleased to see photos of the lion head fountain sculptures working in situ in Provence, France. I love the natural colour of the stoneware ceramic sculptures which were fired to a high temperature. I also think the lichen and moss which is starting to grow on the sculptures works well!
The commission was to do 3 lion relief heads, each one needed to allow for a water spout and to blend into their surroundings. The pagan ‘Green Man’ was also a source of inspiration.
The lion heads were commissioned by Hannah Peschar Sculpture Gardens, Surrey.
