'Destruct and Reconstruct'

After modelling my latest torso in clay the next step is for it to be hollowed out in order for it to be fired safely in the kiln. 

Carefully cutting the sculpture in half l scooped out the clay from both halves and then added some clay slip to both edges (it acts like a sort of clay glue!)

I then reassembled the sculpture and modelled the join so that it would blend in. 

Now l’m letting the sculpture completely dry - it should take 2 weeks. And then it will be fired in the kiln … to be continued!
